Small in size but good in content
Excellent "friendly" dinosaur book

for classrooms
A wonderful story through the eyes of a baby whaleMy son loves this story and sits completely still on my lap, pointing to all of the colorful sea creatures and turning the pages. I love the size of the book, which is tall and easy for toddlers to grab.
The complexity of thought and feeling found within this book is amazing in what is essentially a toddler board book. I think this book will last for at least a few years to come.

A review of the notes not the book. The First thing that Barron's notes does is say the ring is like the atomic bomb. And the land influences the landscape after the war.
Some of the things in the book are useful for pointing out what is assumed you already know about; like shadows are bad and stars are good. As for the story it is just the bare bones with no meat. If you read this first you would be discouraged form reading the book thinking it was long and dry.
Fantastic fantasy adventure. Holds your interest for hours.

Excellent renderings of human natures
Essential

Check out the chocolate mousse recipe, worth the whole book!If I ever get around to the rest of the book, I'll start with the recipe for Mexican chocolate. The photography is excellent, the layout is charming, and the recipes only for the serious chocolate lover.
Serious Cook & 10 Year User of this book

Solid information for nervous parentsI particularly like the emphasis the author puts on parent-child communication, and on using everyday events as "teachable moments" in the overall sexuality education of the child. She encourages parents to have many small, informal talks with the child, rather than "the talk" -- which is almost universally embarrassing and ineffective for both parent and child.
I do feel that some of the sections (such as "privacy vs. secrecy" and the single-parent material) represent wishful thinking rather than the realities of parenting for many of us. However, this doesn't mean the information isn't useful; just that I think it should be taken with a grain of salt, and that additional resources are always useful in filling gaps in any particular work.
I would recommend DeFreitas' book to any parent who has ever stuttered or mumbled in answer to their child's questions about sexuality. She gives many positive examples of tactics parents can use to teach, while encouraging them to supply their own personal and moral beliefs (something many authors forget to mention).
Nice & easy-to-use ideas for talking to our kids about sex.

Good assessment concerning many aspects of these fishes
Good overall info. Great pictures!

MAX notes for Twelfth Night
A helpful additionNow, some time later, I find myself referring back to those books and buying more of them. Am I still under the gun? No. These books, unlike like those charming ones from my college days, are well organized, insightful, and show a clear understanding of literary device.
I have found them so useful that I recommend them to teachers (both new and experienced). They provide perspectives I had never thought of, helpful questions, and practice essays I find myself using again and again.
This series is simply the most helpful and concise tool I have ever found. I have even taken to recommending this book to my students. I know bad teacher. However, using this text breakdown and summary along with side by side texts my students have improved their short and long term understanding of literature by remarkable amounts.
Dollar for dollar you can not go wrong with any of these books.

Long, but detailed.
Old Man and the Sea

Good to have... could be better though.
The grandfather of all political theory.
